Nice job, Dave. What are your line thoughts? If you want to try a few shooting heads and Jim Teeney sink tip shooters let me know. I am sure we are crossing paths in search of lakes region fish.

One of the lines TFO recommends is the Airflo Compact Skagit 570/600. I've tried the rod with a 375 gr Rio Skagit Short head with a 67 gr versi leader and weighted fly. Casted quite well and I like the short shooting head. So thinking to start off with the Airflo 570 gr line. With sinking tip and fly should flex the rod much better than the lighter setup. But if were to cross paths it would be fun to try other lines. Thanks

Dave, If your main purpose for the rod is salt then you are going to want a shooting head style line. I like them integrated and not with tips. If you look at the Jim Teeny floating with sinking tips you will find one you think will best suit where you fish strippers. Overhead casts can be made better with these lines because there is no hinge. Jim Teeny

Thanks William. I will check them out. Yes, this pole will mainly be for stripers from my boat.

From the boat you could get away with Rio 30 foot shooting heads. They come in floating, hover, intermediate, slow and fast sink. They work great for striped bass.

Rod looks great, Dave. I'll bet it's a cannon.

Thanks guys. Chris, wait till you try this rod. Very easy to cast. Rick, I was really pleased how far it cast and I didn't even have a heavy enough line on it to really load the rod.
