What is the 180 degree rule? In the world of two hand casting it represents the path of least resistance for a forward stroke and our line to travel. In order to create that straight line path of "D" Loop, Straight Tip Path Forward Stroke, Anchor Placement and Target, we must be standing in the exact direction of the target throughout the forward stroke.
Try this experiment. Pretend you are on river left with your down river foot forward. Stand so that you are facing squarely in a 45 degree position to the rivers edge pointing down stream and your target square to your shoulders. Now rotate your upper body as far as possible to the right. Switch to having your up river foot forward and notice what happens. Now imagine there is a big rock wall right behind you. We choose what foot we want forward first.
Once we lock in the target and stance the anchor placement under the 180 degree rule can be determined. Because the rotation of the hips stops at the target the upper body and arms will continue through to the "D" Loop. Now go ahead and fire away knowing that the planets are aligned.
