I've been fly fishing for trout and landlocks for most of my fifty-some-ought years. Also have chased NH's Broodstock Atlantics a bunch. With most everything I do, I always try my best to be as innovative as possible, and that includes fly casting. That's especially true when it comes to some tough-to-fish areas at my regular haunts on local waters. Not having a back cast and needing some distance has been a regular and perplexing problem... until now. When I first looked into switch rods, I sensed that I had finally found a solution. Now, being able to cast one, I KNOW that I've found the solution! My lady and I, (really fortunate to have a partner that loves to fly fish, almost as much as I do) have been talking about getting into the two handers for some time, as we both have an interest in spey for salmon and steelhead as we're out west quite often. But at the same time, we took a look at switch rods as we saw them as a great way to fish large trout/salmon rivers in this local area, which would also afford us opportunity to hone our spey casting skills. And that's the plan for this season. We'll be spending lots of time on northern NH and Maine waters. So if you see a couple waving switch rods around, don't be a stranger. We're looking forward to meeting and getting to know more double-handers.
Tight lines and a great season to you all,
FF

Rick, I spent last summer with my first switch on the central and northern NH waters and some in Maine just over the boarder. Already been out a couple times with it this winter but looking forward to the wamer weather. We'll keep an eye out for you. Never saw another out there except my son last summer so we're not too hard to spot. Hope we cross paths and good luck this season.

Hey Dave,
Good to see you on here. Pam and I spend a lot of time on the Andro and will be up there a lot this season as I'm parking my trailer at Timberland Campground in Shelburne (where I'm from). So we'll be up there most every weekend. Will be keeping an eye out for you too. Wish you a tight lines and a great season.
Regards,
Rick

One of our forum members, Easterncaster, is a IFFF Master Casting Instructor and is holding the Catskill Casting Rendezvous. I'm giving a clinic and demo on "The Modern Switch Rod Advantage" Saturday morning April 20 @ 9:30am.
As more and more of us are throwing these trout sticks the understanding of all capabilities, line avail abilities and casting styles needs to be explored.
I'm really happy to be doing this gig.
